Getting back to it
Biblically Accurate Earrings
Rose Gold Heart Necklace
This one gets a bit more personal. I want to do everything, all the time but there comes a point that I know that’s not possible. I am constantly finding myself putting my small business, as well as some other personal goals, on the back burner. It’s reasonable, I work more than full time and I go to school. I had a conversation today that just reminds me, doing the thing is the most important thing. Not knowledge, not expertise. I believe in those things highly, don’t get me wrong, yet success is as practical as trying at times.
Let me get to the point, behind the scenes I’ve been investing in learning more about quality jewelry making. I ran into a few snags in my early attempts. This is what I learned, first people can undo your efforts and it’s my job to fix it. I started with stretch bracelets but if the bracelet was too small for the person trying it the string would slip out of the metal facet. Even with a clasp to use people still tried to force it. Understandable, but I wasn’t sure what to do to fix this. I am now switching to memory wire as it would be a solution but it has it’s limits in other ways. For instance memory wire works best when it wraps over a few times to fit around the wrist. The wings I use in my jewelry don’t allow for this and another detail added to the list of fixes. I want to make the best product I can reasonably afforded for those who are supporting me.
This is another challenge I face in trying to keep up as business owner, I know how to have high quality standards and sometimes I just……shouldn’t. It goes back to the doing is what matters. If the high quality thing is unachievable because it’s overwhelming, stressful, time consuming, things end up unfinished. I get like that at times. I know I do a lot, everyone always tells me how hard working I am and how much I do, but I know the secret of all the things I know I can do but just looking at them is too much. Sometimes it be like that.
I got distracted from the point again. Next on the list is taking product photos. It’s been on my list for the last few months, something always comes up. Last weeks excuse was a girl was sick at work and I did an extra 10 hours to make up for it. Sounds reasonable.
